Marketing Internship

The Director of Marketing at the dynamic new Bedford Playhouse is seeking a volunteer to be their right-hand person on all projects and tasks. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in all areas of Marketing, including social media, graphic design, media research, photo posting, events listings and uploading, website updates, flyer distribution, creative writing, event planning and management, database management and administrative organization of all moving parts (files, imagery and documents).

The ideal candidate would join us for several hours a day, twice a week, and occasional weekend events when available to help. This is a volunteer opportunity and is not paid (free tickets/perks will be given generously…).  For students, credit may be applied per your academic institution. This is a fantastic jump-right-in learning opportunity for the right person. Friendly and outgoing candidates (we mean that!) that know how to work hard and are creative problem solvers (remember, we are a non -profit!) are what we welcome.

General Internships

We are looking for 2-3 weekly volunteer students / interns to assist with general administrative, development and programming related projects and tasks throughout the Fall. Box Office Staff

  • As a Box Office attendant at The Bedford Playhouse, you’ll operate the box office selling movie tickets, Memberships and Gift Cards to guests.
  • You’ll also field questions about content, provide directions to the theater, answer the phone, inform guests about prices/policies and enroll guests in our Membership Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Make certain guest service is friendly, helpful and fast
  • Complete ticket purchase transactions by:
  • Greeting each guest and identifying tickets requested.
  • Reading a computer screen, operating a keyboard or touch screen, confirming and dispensing the correct tickets.
  • Completing a credit card or gift card transaction or collecting cash and making accurate change.
  • Thanking the guest.
  • Ensure the security of all box office cash and tickets.
  • Keep box office clean and well organized and update box office signage and phone show times recording
  • Distribute and understand how to operate assistive movie going equipment
  • Enforce ratings to keep underage guests from accessing auditoriums with adult content
  • Perform daily box office maintenance duties and complete various reports as needed
  • Answer phones and questions from guests
  • Enforce theater policies and procedures
  • Assist with other functions as instructed by the Theater Manager
  • Inform guests of current events and upcoming events
  • Inform customers and sell memberships

USHER

  • Help clean and maintain the theaters, restrooms, and lobbies
  • Control access to the theater by tearing customer’s tickets
  • Assist customers to there seats
  • Manage large crowds

Responsibilities:

  • Service is friendly, helpful, and fast
  • Help keep the theater clean, safe, and in good repair
  • Make customers comfortable
  • Greet, direct guests, and tear tickets at the entrance to theater
  • Thank guests for coming
  • Enforce movie ratings
  • Enforce The Bedford Playhouses’ policies
  • Monitor theater conditions (picture/sound quality, temperature, lighting, and guest behavior)
  • Be a constant presence to deter any disruptive conduct
  • Help to seat guests in auditoriums
  • Help clean lobbies, restrooms, theaters, and all exterior and common areas of building
  • Change marquees, theater, lobby signage, and poster cases
  • Answer questions from customers to help resolve any problems

  • Maintain cleanliness of the concession area and work quickly.

Responsibilities:

  • Friendly and fast customer service
  • Pop popcorn, pour drinks, and serve other food items
  • Greet guests, put together orders, operate the cash register, and give accurate change
  • Move bags of unpopped popcorn kernels, cans/boxes of popping oil, syrup boxes, buckets of ice, and other stock
  • Make sure concession stand is always clean and orderly, including cooking equipment, counters, shelves, glass display cases, condiment areas, preparation areas, and stock rooms
  • Assist with other functions as instructed by the Theater Manager

Assistant Manager

  • As an Assistant Manager at Bedford Playhouse you’ll operate all film projectors, sound equipment and related equipment in the theater.
  • You’ll ingest, test and perform maintenance on scheduled movies and the projectors.
  • You’ll be responsible for routine housekeeping and timely communication with the Theater Manager.
  • You’ll open and oversee the concessions, ushers and box office staff and will be responsible for daily reporting, cash handling and bank deposits.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a comfortable, distraction-free, and picture-perfect entertainment experience.
  • Coordinate booth and floor operations and duties.
  • Ensure picture-perfect presentations through auditorium and booth evaluations.
  • Identify picture and sound problems and correct accordingly.
  • Execute trailer and pre-feature programming and scheduling.
  • Solve technical and operational problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the cinema’s technical operations outside of the projection room, including concessions, box office, lighting, heating, ventilation, fire alarms and equipment, electrical, water and gas supplies.
  • Open and close the concessions stand.
  • Running daily reports.
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant Health and Safety regulations and requirements.
  • Make certain guest service is friendly, helpful and fast.
  • Maintain facilities that are clean, safe and in good repair.
  • Serve fresh, appetizing and properly prepared food and beverages.
  • Assist with other functions as instructed by the Theater Manager.
