BEDFORD PLAYHOUSE “CLASSIC TUESDAYS”

ON ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY, COME REDISCOVER A LANDMARK MOVIE THAT MADE HISTORY…

“MIDNIGHT COWBOY”

Starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight. Presented on the BIG SCREEN in a glorious, pristine 4K digital print with a special introduction by Playhouse founder, John Farr.

TUESDAY, JUNE 25 AT 7PM

Two years after “The Graduate,” Dustin Hoffmann transformed himself into an ailing derelict in director John Schlesinger’s dark, intense “Midnight Cowboy.”

A story of friendship born of desperation in Manhattan’s grimy underbelly, “Cowboy” was at the vanguard of a new kind of Hollywood movie in the late ’60s — gritty, complex, and unidealized.

Despite an initial “X” rating (later adjusted to “R”), the film won Oscars for best picture, director, and screenplay, and both Hoffman and newcomer Jon Voight were nominated for their gutsy, raw performances.  — Best Movies by Farr

“I cannot recall a more marvelous pair of acting performances in any one film.”– Gene Siskel, Siskel and Ebert

“Voight and Hoffman are so extraordinarily affecting that their scenes together generate more emotional power than the dramatic wiring of their relationship deserves.” — Village Voice
