Run Time: 100 min.

Presented in conjunction with the Foundation for Bedford Central Schools

From the director of SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age comes Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience is about helping young people thrive in our screen-and-stress-filled world.

Filmmaker and physician Delaney Ruston uses a personal lens and professional eye to help parents flip the script on stress, anxiety, and depression. We follow Delaney as she finds herself at a loss on how to help her own teens as they struggle with their emotional wellbeing. Ruston sets out to understand these challenges in our current screen-filled society, and how we as parents and schools empower teens to overcome mental health challenges and build emotional agility, communication savvy, and stress resilience.

A 30-minute panel discussion follows the movie.  Panelists include:

Dr. Ari Kellner (licensed child psychologist and community parent)

Dr. Brett Miller (FLHS Principal)

Jason Spector (FLHS Assistant Principal and former FLMS Assistant Principal)

Dr. Jessica Welt (licensed psychologist, Acting CEO of the Child Guidance Center, Southern CT and community parent)

And high school student representatives from the community

The panelists will take questions from the audience and apply the key messages in the movie to what they are experiencing in our community with the goal of providing practical takeaways.

The Foundation for Bedford Central Schools funds leading-edge academic initiatives across all seven schools in our district. The Foundation has been successful in supporting grants for new curriculum, providing 15,000 books to classroom libraries, delivering over 100 internships and job shadows to high school students, funding middle school capstone projects, providing cutting-edge technology to our schools, and so much more! We have an exciting lineup of initiatives to support in the upcoming school year. The more funding we have, the bigger impact we can have on students in our district. A portion of ticket sales will go to supporting this year’s initiatives. To learn more about the Foundation, visit www.foundationbcs.org.
