Sept 17th, 2024 – Last night, we welcomed a powerful screening of The Coddling of the American Mind, in collaboration with Braver Angels and the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR). This powerful documentary, based on the bestselling book by Jonathan Haidt and Gregory Lukianoff, delves into the growing mental health crisis among young people, exploring the roots of anxiety, depression, and societal pressures that challenge today’s youth. The film not only identifies the causes of these issues but also offers pathways to building resilience for future generations.

Following the screening, a dynamic panel discussion was held, featuring experts from both Braver Angels and FAIR, including Brent Morden, Angel Eduardo, Dr. David Badillo, Erik Carter, and Sahar Tartak. The Q&A covered a broad range of topics, from the political divisions on university campuses to the importance of fostering civil dialogue and stepping away from social media to encourage face-to-face conversations. This event embodied Bedford Playhouse’s commitment to bringing thought-provoking cultural experiences to the community while promoting deeper understanding and cooperation across divides.
