March 27th, 2025 – Bedford Playhouse and Bedford2030 presented an eye-opening screening of the feature documentary ‘Plastic People’ which investigates humanity’s growing addiction to plastic and the alarming impact of microplastics on human health. The film, led by acclaimed author and science journalist Ziya Tong and directed by award-winning filmmaker Ben Addelman, took audiences on a global journey to uncover the hidden consequences of plastic pollution. Through scientific research and personal experimentation, Tong revealed how microscopic plastic particles—now found in air, water, soil, and even the human body—pose a significant threat to public health.

New York State Senator Pete Harckham introduced the program, underscoring the urgency of the issue and the need for collective action.  A post-screening discussion encouraged further reflection on potential solutions, reinforcing Bedford Playhouse’s commitment to fostering meaningful conversations on critical environmental issues.
