June 11th, 2025 – This past week, Bedford Playhouse offered guests a memorable pairing of culinary discovery and cinematic storytelling with a screening of Holy Cow, a 2024 Cannes Film Festival selection. Before the film, Stephen Gellert, president of The World’s Best Cheeses, guided an immersive tasting of Comté Cheese, one of the film’s star products, introducing attendees to a variety of producers and ages of this beloved French cheese, complemented by a complimentary glass of wine.
Set in France’s Jura region, Holy Cow follows 18-year-old Totone as he embraces unexpected responsibility and embarks on a journey to craft award-winning Comté cheese to support his sister and shape his own future. Presented in French with English subtitles, the film captivated the audience with its intimate story and beautiful cinematography.
The evening combined the joy of food and film, creating a warm, community-centered experience that celebrated the art of cheese-making, French culture, and the transformative power of determination.
