Aug 6th, 2026 – Bedford Playhouse welcomed Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and producer Louis Cato, bandleader of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, for an intimate evening of live music with his trio.
For one special night, Cato stepped out from behind the late-night bandstand and into the spotlight, treating audiences to a dynamic mix of his original songs and thoughtfully selected covers. The intimate setting offered guests a rare opportunity to experience Cato’s artistry up close, showcasing the soulful vocals, musicianship, and versatility that have made him one of today’s most sought-after performers.
Cato’s remarkable musical journey began at just two years old on the drums. Raised in North Carolina with deep gospel roots, he went on to study at Berklee College of Music before making his way to New York City. Over the course of his career, he has performed and collaborated with an extraordinary roster of artists, including Bobby McFerrin, James Taylor, Q-Tip, Jon Batiste, and St. Vincent.
After years of supporting some of music’s biggest names, Cato has increasingly stepped into the spotlight as a solo artist. His releases include Starting Now (2017), Reflections (2023), and Cato Covers, Vol. 1 (2024), along with new singles released in 2025.
While audiences know him nightly as the bandleader on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Cato’s live performances offer a different side of his artistry—personal, soulful, and deeply connected to the audience.
Following the performance, guests had the opportunity to meet Cato during an exclusive meet-and-greet, making the evening even more memorable.
