A great movie soundtrack can make all the difference. In this series, Rob Cavenagh guides you through the music that makes movies memorable.
Jimmy Rabbitte (Robert Arkins) knows he’s the world’s greatest band manager … Now he just needs a band. Auditioning everyone he can find, Jimmy gathers ten of the most talented, least experienced musicians from the rough streets of working-class Dublin, Ireland … with a plan to launch the best Soul band ever to take the stage.
“Sparked by fine performances by its young cast” (Rotten Tomatoes), The Commitments is a loving tribute to the fire and passion of the great Soul standards – “Mustang Sally,” “In the Midnight Hour,” “Chain of Fools,” and many more – from Oscar-nominated director Alan Parker (Mississippi Burning, Pink Floyd: The Wall, Fame).
Rob Cavenagh is a Bedford resident since 2000, a lifelong music fan, record collector, musician and self-described soundtrack nerd. An ad agency guy by profession, he spent his college years working in a record store and then making music videos (back when that was thing) for Atlantic Records in the 1990s. When not on his bike, you can usually find him playing locally with his band Ask Your Mom.
