Six of Clubs’ 2019 show is an homage to the Big Bands and Swing music.

The 1930’s and 40’s were a time of prolific musical innovation. Great band leaders like Glen Miller and Tommy Dorsey delivered swing music to the country and launched the careers of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Shore and many more. The war years inspired dance crazes like the Jitter Bug and spawned haunting nostalgic ballads of lovers separated from their soldier boyfriends.

The show will feature such songs as Chattanooga Choo Choo, Pennies from Heaven, Dream a Little Dream of Me, I’ll Walk Alone, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Tuxedo Junction and Stardust.

SIX OF CLUBS

Formed in 2010, SIX OF CLUBS is a group of six friends (John Hargraves, Rich Miller, Beatrice Broadwater, Angela Cason, Win Rutherfurd, Nick Firth), who are music aficionados and enjoy performing songs from The Great American Songbook–the enduring songs of the 1920s to 1960s, principally from the Broadway musical theatre and Hollywood musicals. Previous Six of Clubs’ shows have featured the songs of Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen, Alan Jay Lerner, Burton Lane and Frederick Loewe, Rodgers and Hart and Rodgers and Hammerstein, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, and Cole Porter as well as songs from Hollywood Musicals, and the Fabulous Fifties. The group generally performs at private clubs on the Eastern Seaboard from Boston to Florida.
