Oct. 27th, 2024 – Bedford Playhouse delighted the Bedford community with its production of The Game’s Afoot, a mystery-comedy written by Ken Ludwig and directed by David Ludwig. The show combined suspense and humor to tell the story of William Gillette, a famed Broadway star renowned for his role as Sherlock Holmes.
Set in December 1936, the play followed Gillette as he hosted his cast members at his lavish Connecticut castle for a weekend celebration. But when one of the guests was unexpectedly murdered, the gathering transformed into a thrilling whodunit filled with twists and surprises amid the castle’s labyrinth of tricks and mirrors.
The production featured a talented cast, including Ann Alford, Cristi Andrews (Law & Order, The Princess Diaries 2), Jessica Capshaw (Grey’s Anatomy), Trent Dawson (Katonah Classic Stage), Trey Ellett, Isabel Murphy (Lovejoy), Joshua Pickel, and Edward Watts (Broadway’s Scandalous, The Fantasticks).
After the performance, attendees enjoyed a post-show reception where they could meet the cast, adding a special touch to an already memorable evening. This production, presented through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals, offered an unforgettable theater experience for the Bedford community.
